Web applications & SaaS

This is our largest practice: half the studio's revenue comes from web applications. We take projects of three months and up, because you cannot build a real product with authentication, roles and payments in less.

Pricingfrom $20,000

01 — What's included

  • Mapping the business process before any development: who does what, in what order
  • Data schema and API contract written before the interface
  • Interface design covering empty, error and loading states
  • Front-end on Next.js, back-end on NestJS or Go
  • Roles and permissions
  • Payment, document and third-party API integrations
  • Automated tests on the critical paths
  • CI/CD, monitoring and error tracking

02 — When you need this

  • The process lives in spreadsheets and email threads and has stopped scaling
  • You have a working product, but every change breaks two other things
  • You need a customer portal to take load off support
  • You are building a product for market and need a team that owns the whole thing

Stack and tools

  • Next.js
  • NestJS
  • Go
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • RabbitMQ
  • Docker
  • Prisma
  • S3

03 — Stages and timelines

  1. 01

    Discovery

Interviews with the people who will actually use the system. Scenarios, data schema, stage-by-stage estimate.

    2–3 weeks
  2. 02

    Interface architecture

Wireframes for key screens, logic tested against the client's real data.

    2–3 weeks
  3. 03

    Design and design system

Components, states, responsive behaviour. Back-end work starts in parallel.

    3–4 weeks
  4. 04

    Development in sprints

Two-week sprints, a demo at the end of each, access to staging throughout.

    8–20 weeks
  5. 05

    Acceptance and launch

Load testing, data migration, training for your staff.

    2–3 weeks

Pricing

from $20,000

The deciding factors are the number of roles and the complexity of calculations inside the system. A customer portal with two roles and payments runs around $28,000. A marketplace with supplier, buyer and moderator accounts starts at $67,000.

05 — Questions about this practice

Web applications & SaaS

No. The fastest we have ever shipped a working service with authentication and one complete scenario was nine weeks. Anything promised faster than that usually gets rewritten.
